Microsoft Announces Office 2021

Microsoft officially announced Office 2021. This productivity software package aimed at personal users and small businesses is expected to be available in late 2021 for Windows and MacOS.

The new features embedded in Office 2021 have not been revealed by Microsoft. But certainly, the price is said to be unchanged from before. For the “one time purchase” purchase model, Microsoft provides a support period of up to 5 years for Office 2021.

“We do not plan to change the price for this product at the time of release. We will announce full details about the new features included in Office 2021 near the time of availability,” wrote Microsoft on its official page.

One other thing that is thought to be present in the latest version of Office is the interface in dark mode, aka dark mode.

Apart from Office 2021, Microsoft will also release another productivity software package called Office Long Term Servicing Channel (LTSC). Different from Office 2021, Office LTSC is intended for commercial or corporate customers who need long-term Office services.

In its official page, Microsoft states that Office LTSC is designed for customers with specific conditions, for example, the industry uses long-term systems or applications so that it cannot change every month.

Examples include the medical industry (such as those used for MRI and CAT scans), industrial process controllers, and air traffic control devices.

Microsoft says the new Office LTSC will include improvements in accessibility aspects, capabilities such as Dynamic Arrays and XLOOKUP in Excel, dark mode support in some applications, and performance improvements in Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.

Like Office 2021, Office LTSC is scheduled to be available in late 2021. Both are bundled with the default OnePad app and are available in 32-bit and 64-bit versions.
